UMY Successfully Hosts Patent Application Description Writing Training for the Third Time
Yogyakarta, 17 July 2024 – The first batch of the 2024 Patent Application Description Writing Training was successfully held in Yogyakarta on 16-17 July 2024. This training is a collaborative effort between the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM), the Directorate General of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Research and Innovation Institute of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).
The event, held at the Crystal Lotus Hotel, was special as it marked the third time UMY has been entrusted to host this training. The Rector of UMY, present at the opening ceremony, emphasized the importance of recognizing patent inventors. “Appreciating patent inventors is crucial to encouraging innovation and creativity in Indonesia,” said the Rector.
The Head of the UMY Research and Innovation Institute also expressed gratitude for the successful organization of this event for the third time. “Alhamdulillah, UMY has once again been entrusted by DRTPM to organize this training. We are committed to continually supporting and facilitating researchers in submitting patent applications,” he stated.
Husni Thamrin, Head of the DRTPM Team representing the Director of DRTPM, mentioned in his speech that patent applications can make inventors the “new sultans” due to the high value of patent certificates in the downstream process of research. “I also thank UMY for organizing this event so well,” added Husni.
The training was attended by 55 participants from 28 universities across Indonesia, guided by six experienced facilitators in patent application writing. It is hoped that through this training, participants will produce high-quality patent descriptions and advance innovation in Indonesia.
This training is expected to improve the quality of patent application descriptions submitted by researchers and inventors in Indonesia, thereby accelerating the downstream process of research and innovation in various fields.
