Faculty of Agriculture Hosts Patent Application Writing Workshop in Collaborate with LRI
Yogyakarta, 22 July 2024 – The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held a workshop on patent application writing in the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Agriculture. The workshop, attended by 22 faculty members, aims to produce intellectual property outputs, particularly patents.
The participating lecturers, who are involved in applied research, are required to produce intellectual property outputs as part of their academic obligations. This workshop is a strategic initiative to support their endeavors in generating patentable innovations.
Dr. Innaka Ageng Rineksane, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture for Academic and AIK Affairs, expressed her aspirations for the workshop. “With this activity, we hope to increase the number of patents within our faculty. This academic year, we have four patents that contribute to our rankings. We aim to see this number grow in the coming years,” she said.
The workshop featured experts from the Division of Innovation, including Takaful Pambudi, S.P., and M. Dzulnafis Tanjung, S.H., who shared their knowledge and experience in patent application processes.
The Head of the UMY Research and Innovation Institute added, “We hope that through this workshop, the Faculty of Agriculture can produce more patent drafts that will eventually be granted. This initiative is crucial for fostering a culture of innovation and research excellence at UMY.”
The workshop marks a significant step towards enhancing the patent portfolio of the Faculty of Agriculture, aligning with UMY’s commitment to academic and research excellence.
