Yogyakarta – Cell Culture Laboratory, Research and Innovation Institute (LRI), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), in Yogyakarta, recently held intensive training on bioassay tests, with a particular emphasis on the MTT cytotoxic test. The training, which was attended by participants from the UNISA Biotechnology Study Program, lasted for seven days, starting from December 17 to 24, 2024.

Ambiance of Intensive Training on Bioassay Tests

This training aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the MTT cytotoxic test method, which is frequently employed in biotechnology research, particularly to test the effects of toxicity on cells. Training participants were taught the basic theory of the MTT test, its practical procedures, and how to analyze the results obtained from the experiment. In addition, participants were also given the opportunity to be directly involved in experiments in the laboratory to apply the knowledge they had learned.

This event was facilitated by experts in the field of cell culture and bioassay tests from the LRI UMY Cell Culture Laboratory, who possess extensive experience in research and application of modern techniques in the field of biotechnology. In the practical session, participants were also instructed on how to operate laboratory equipment utilized in the MTT cytotoxic test, as well as techniques for interpreting test data.

It is anticipated that this training will make substantial contributions to the advancement of participants’ biotechnology skills and equip them with the necessary skills to conduct additional research in the field of cellular toxicity testing. Furthermore, this training serves as a platform to fortify the partnership between study programs in the advancement of science at UMY and UNISA Yogyakarta.

By the end of this training, participants are anticipated to be able to implement the knowledge they have acquired in their research projects and make a meaningful contribution to the broader field of research.
