Yogyakarta (18/07) – To increase the quantity of Scopus-indexed journals, the Research and Innovation Institute (LRI) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta held a “Mentorship and Scopus Indexation Facilitation” event. The event was held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the 1st Floor Meeting Room of Dasron Hamid Research and Innovation Center Building from 09.00 to 15.00 WIB. This event aims to assist journal managers at UMY in indexing their respective journals to Scopus.

The four journals involved in this event are Journal of Communicators, Journal of International Relations, Journal of Foreign Language Teaching and Learning, Journal of Governance and Public Policy, International Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance, Planta Tropika Journal, Indonesian Journal of Nursing Practices, Journal of Economics and Development Studies, and Journal of Business Management. The event was attended by the Editor in Chief, Admin, and Journal Manager of each journal. Manuscripts prepared in the event have substantial quality and good writing structure.

Prof. Dr. Muji Setiyo, ST., MT. and Dr. Abdul Kadir Jaelani, S.H., M.H. as speakers at the event also became assistants who will review each journal. Both will directly provide input in the journal review session for all journals at UMY. This event also shows UMY’s commitment through the Institute for Research and Innovation to support the improvement of the quality of academic journals managed.

Journal managers are expected to take advantage of this opportunity to improve publication standards and prepare their best manuscripts to be indexed in Scopus.

“We hope that this event can be an important momentum for journal managers at UMY to improve the quality and visibility of the work produced at the international level,” said Dr. drh. Tri Wulandari Kesetyaningsih, M.Kes. as Head of the Publication and Journal Strengthening Division of LRI UMY.

The UMY Research and Innovation Institute invited selected journal managers to attend the event by bringing the 10 best manuscripts that would be submitted to Scopus. With the guidance of Prof. Muji and Dr. Abdul Kadir Jaelani, journal managers will gain in-depth and comprehensive insights regarding the quality standards needed to be indexed in Scopus. This includes editorial governance following Scopus standards.

Increasing the quality of these journals directly shows UMY’s contribution to the downstream development of science and technology. This mentorship and Scopus indexation facilitation event will bring strategic benefits to the recognition obtained by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. In addition, strengthening the capacity of journal managers will have implications in supporting UMY’s mission to become a superior and globally competitive higher education institution.
