Surakarta (7/3) – The Institute for Research and Innovation (LRI) Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) attended the 19th University Research Colloqium (URECOL) with the theme “Implementation of Research Results and Community Service in the Era of Society 5.0” which was held at the Edutorium KH. Ahmad Dahlan Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) on Thursday (7/3). This URECOL activity is a work program by the Consortium of Research and Community Service Institutes (LPPM) of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA) Central Java – DIY which is carried out twice a year. It should be noted that the Central Java – DIY LPPM Consortium is the only one holding a national level conference among the 5 (five) other LPPM consortia. This is one of the achievements that is expected to be transmitted to all PTMAs in Indonesia.

The 19th URECOL activity was not only an event for the presentation of research results but also a forum for fostering collaboration. The importance of collaboration in research was conveyed by the Deputy Chancellor for International Cooperation at UMS, Prof. Supriyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. In his speech he said that research conducted by lecturers is mostly used only in the context of Educator Certification for Lecturers (Serdos) and Promotion. Lecturers must provide research that has more impact on society through collaboration between PTMA.

“In the process, PTMA needs to carry out transformation by strengthening the dharma of research and community service. “The PTMA Association must also build more connectivity and work together to improve Human Resources (HR).” he said
The same thing was also conveyed by the Chairman of the LPPM PTMA Consortium for Central Java – DIY, apt. Sabtanti Harimurti, M.Sc., Ph.D. who is also the Head of the Research Strengthening Division at LRI UMY. He expressed his agreement with the remarks delivered by the Vice Chancellor. However, he expressed his wish that activities like URECOL could be carried out in turns at several other PTMAs.

“Collaboration is very important, for me, who is from the exact group, I need a partner/partners from the social group. So, both will be mutually beneficial and of course the research objectives will be achieved more optimally. “Related to URECOL, in order to expand collaboration, it would be good to implement it in PTMAs such as UM East Kalimantan, UM Magelang and so on so that it becomes more widespread.” He said in his speech at the 19th URECOL.

As reinforcement, Chairman of the National LPPM PTMA Consortium, Prof. Ir. Sarjito M.T., Ph.D. conveyed his hope that through the 19th URECOL, PTMAs could learn from each other. He gave an example like UM Kudus which could learn from UM Surakarta or UM Yogyakarta in improving institutional accreditation and so on. Not only that, sustainable research/service collaboration will certainly boost PTMA to reach a higher cluster.

“URECOL has been implemented for the 19th time, which means a lot of improvements are needed. I hope that URECOL will not only be a routine activity but will become an opportunity to learn from each other and stay in touch. Several PTMAs under us are still spread across Fostered, Pratama, Madya, Utama and Mandiri. “Through the spirit of collaboration, it is hoped that each PTMA can improve and be in a better Cluster.” he said

After the opening session, the 19th URECOL continued with a video assessment of the percentage of research results sent by each participant. At the same time, the LPPM PTMA Central Java-DIY Consortium held a coordination meeting to evaluate the progress of the work program and decide on the next host. (Syafiq)
