Yogyakarta (27/11) – The Research and Innovation Institute, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (LRI UMY), was conducting follow-up discussions on possible implementation plans for the established collaboration with PT. Telkom Indonesia. LRI UMY was represented by Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, Head of LRI, and Dr. Ir. Wahyudi, S.T., M.T., Head of the UMY Information Systems Institute, while Meyta from PT. Telkom Indonesia was present in person. The event took place on Wednesday (22/11) at the Ground Floor Meeting Room of the Dasron Hamid Research and Innovation Building.

As an institution that oversees the research sector, LRI UMY continues to strive to provide high-caliber, cutting-edge research. One thing that is carried out is to expand collaboration with third parties to open up opportunities to expand cooperation both in the field of research and innovation ideas.

On this auspicious occasion, representatives from PT. Telkom Indonesia, Meyta, expressed that collaboration with UMY was intriguing, considering that several lecturers/researchers have also made it a collaborating partner.

“Several lecturers/researchers at UMY have made us (PT. Telkom Indonesia) a research partner. We are quite confident that some of the research that is currently or already underway can be further developed in the industrial sector, be it in the IT, health, or social sectors,” she said in the discussion session.

Telkom Indonesia, apart from being an ICT services company, also concentrates on inviting researchers/academics to develop their research results into valuable and useful innovations. In this case, they plan to create a Telkom Corner in the Dasron Hamid Research and Innovation Building (current LRI Building). This plan was responded to well by Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, with several inputs to make it more relevant to research/lecturer needs.

“The plan to establish a Telkom Corner at UMY will be very good, and we will appreciate it if both parties agree. Nevertheless, we need to ensure that the creation of a Telkom Corner, which is synonymous with fast internet networks and comfortable spaces, also facilitates researchers to make their research easier,” she added during the discussion session.

The construction of Telkom Corner is expected to produce several productive activities in research such as a data center, big data management space and research plans (data interoperability, smart campus and digital payments for MSMEs. For this reason, LRI UMY is currently negotiating so that Telkom Corner can become the right forum to help improve the quality of innovative and sustainable research.
